Clint Briggs, Tower Loan Controller, Becomes a Licensed CPA
Tower Loan’s Controller, Clint Briggs, has successfully earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License.
Clint, originally from Meridian, Mississippi, started working for Tower Loan almost 12 years ago. In 2007, he worked for Carr, Riggs, and Ingram, an accounting firm that performed financial statement audits for Tower Loan. He eventually came to work for Tower Loan as a Financial Analyst in January 2013. He was quickly promoted to Controller in 2016 and Vice President in 2021.
“Tower’s investment in my professional development has influenced my commitment to the company. Leland Martin, Steve Page, and Darryl Schroeder have mentored me, invested their time, and encouraged my professional development at Tower. The CPA license provides value and will allow me to grow with the company,” Clint explains.
The process of obtaining this license is rigorous. Clint first completed the required accounting coursework and accumulated 150 semester hours of college credit. He then successfully passed the challenging four-part CPA exam and gained one year of experience under the supervision of a licensed CPA.
Taking on new responsibilities and demonstrating the ability to perform at the next level creates a clear path to success at Tower Loan. Pursuing CPA licensure is another step toward strengthening accounting knowledge in financial reporting, tax, and other areas. With several team members already licensed CPAs, this enhances the team’s expertise and aligns with the company’s commitment to excellence.
He acknowledged balancing the time and effort required for further education and licenses with work and personal life can be challenging. However, through hard work and effective time management, he remains committed to his goals and finds the rewards well worth the effort.
Clint graduated from Mississippi State University. His wife, also a CPA, works in the oil and gas industry. They have two children, Ian and Julia. Outside of work, Clint enjoys spending quality time with his family, whether cooking, hunting, or traveling.
